Today was another great day on the open road. Hunter and I started the day by walking to the local Starbucks to get Emily a drink where Hunter uttered his first words “Venti decaf skinny hazelnut latte please”. I guess its true what they say, repetition works. We stopped by Publix, got some delicious donuts, and went back to the room to devour them.
After packing up our 12 suitcases we jammed them in the car and were off. Our first stop for the day was to visit Barbara and Ron for lunch at the Pirates’ House Restaurant in Savannah. The food was good and the company and atmosphere were great. Emily had a crab cake sandwich and I got a nasty look from Emily and the waitress for ordering a cheese burger. What can I say, I get it from my dad.
After lunch we said our goodbyes and headed out. Before we could continue on our journey, Emily had researched cup cake bakeries along our path and our first one happened to be in Savannah. After a little exploration we found our destination. The bakery was called the Back in the Day Bakery. Emily could not have been more in love with this place. Strangely enough we saw one of our old friends from “back in the day” Orlando, Ginger, having lunch there. We ordered our delicious bakery goods and hit the road. Emily loved them so much that she made me promise that we would go back there on our way home.
The day started out a bit overcast but ended up being just beautiful. We were able to get about 2 hours out of Hunter before he decided it was “me-time” and he needed to stretch his 18 inch legs. We were able to locate a local park where we ran around and chased the ball we thought to pack. We all had a blast and enjoyed the break from our favorite Baby Einstein CD. Those of you without kids, I apologize if some of these jokes lack a bit of relevance.
We packed up the ball and made our way to Wilmington. We arrived at about 8:30 pm and the thought of taking Hunter to a restaurant at that time made the two of us quite nervous. So we took advantage of the fantastic view and room service menu and finished our day in the hotel room. All in all today was a great day.
