Today was one of our more calm days on our road trip. Well, at least the morning was calm. Since my parents are building a house, this is going to be the last visit that we stay in the house I grew up in for most of my middle childhood years. Because of this move, however, I was ordered by my Mom to go through all of my stuff and decide what stuff I want to keep or get rid of. Well, those of you who grew up with me know I have a few baseball cards that I accumulated throughout the years. Mrs. Hayes made it clear that she was not going to move these cards to the new house, so I needed to figure out what I was going to do with them.
My first thought was to take the baseball cards to the ebay store and see if they would be willing to sell them for me. My Dad and I drove all of the thousands of cards to the store and talked to the gentleman about seeing if he would list them. After we helped him off the floor he said, “Boy, I gotta be honest with you guys,” (said with the thickest of Wisconsin accents) “I am going to need 120 bucks to go through all of these before I even list them.” As we were pondering that thought, no sooner did he say “Yeah, I can’t go through these for anything less than 180 bucks!” Long story kinda long, we ended up leaving the store with all of the cards we went there with. I wish I had the camera ready when I returned to the house to tell Emily that we need to find room in the house for about 10 boxes of baseball cards. I promptly responded that maybe we could move around the 3 dozen serving dishes we have and put them there!
When we returned from the Ebay store we were also greeted by Sara, Aidan and Zachary Toney! We spent the rest of the afternoon chasing them around the house — well Aidan and Zachary anyway; Sara was pretty well behaved! It is always great seeing the and we await the arrival of father Patrick! That afternoon Sara presented us with our official wedding gift. She had given us a certificate for our wedding stating that the Toney family would be giving us a one night stay in Door County, WI, along with dinner and other stuff. Well, she brought out the well thought out gift basket, very reminiscent of an Emily-basket most of you have grown to know and love. It was full of candy and wine and a bunch of snacks, all the stuff that we absolutely hate, but I guess we will eat it if you force us too! The card also said that we were staying at the Church Hill Inn in Sister Bay, WI. The gift package also included an authentic Door County fish boil, followed by tickets to a show put on by the Peninsula Players of Door County. We were very appreciative, and we began to plan our attack for the next day. This road trip just keeps getting better! Thanks to all of you tuning in and stay tuned for more excitement.
