Today we saw a part of the day we don’t normally see, 6:00 a.m. Yes, both Emily and I woke up at 6:00 a.m. For those of you who know Emily, you know there are not many things that will actually get her out of bed at 6:00 a.m. I guess making cards is now one of those things. She woke up inspired to create, so down the stairs she went. The ladies continued crafting throughout the morning and into the early afternoon. While the ladies were stamping the guys needed to get out, so we headed for the golf course.
It was a beautiful day for golf in Appleton, WI! The foursome was comprised of my dad, Patrick Toney, Erik Hietpas, and myself. We teed off at around 12:30, and the teams were Erik and me vs. Patrick and my Dad. Erik and I got off to a roaring start, winning the front 9 by four holes, but when we made the turn the wheels came off. Erik and I proceeded to lose five holes on the back nine and ended up losing to Patrick and my Dad. Dad put up a solid 72 in their victory.
After we completed our round, we headed back to the house and got ready for another one of our favorite dining experiences in Appleton — the Prime Quarter. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Prime Quarter, this is a place where you go, pick out a raw steak, and cook it yourself on the indoor grill. Many of you are probably thinking, “Why would you go out to dinner just to end up cooking yourself?” While this is a great question, there is something about gathering around the grill, seasoning your steaks, and enjoying the company that keeps us coming back. We went with Erik & Jamie Hietpas and their new son Garrett. Garrett didn’t eat much, being that he is four months old, but we enjoyed the experience as we always do. I will let Emily fill you in on the details, which should be updated sometime in summer 2006.
After dinner we headed home and called it a night. Our time in Appleton is winding down but we are enjoying it! Until tomorrow.
