It all started began with a visit to Grandma Jean and Papa Don’s house in Wisconsin where the boys were introduced to their first Nerf guns. From that moment on they were hooked! Fast forward a couple years and we have a bin in the toy room of at least a dozen different Nerf guns of all shapes and sizes that the boys love to play with. On occasion we will have an all out family war upstairs where we get out our frustrations and aggression on the Nerf battle field.
Hunter and Sawyer are part of the YouTube generation and thus have seen their fair share of toy unboxing and review videos. They will often sneak upstairs with an iPhone and set it up to create their own toy review videos for fun. The video below is a collaboration between the two Hayes boys of an unboxing of the Nerf Modulus Recon Mark 2 gun that Hunter got as a Christmas gift from his buddy Austin. This was the first video that Hunter shot completely by himself and he and I worked together on editing. He is really starting to take an interest in making these videos, and I love to see his creativity come out in the process.
Check out the video below of Hunter and Sawyer’s toy review of the Nerf Modulus Recon Mark 2. Hunter is becoming quite a natural in front of the camera and his brother is the perfect sidekick!
Making the video above inspired Hunter to want to do another. This time we set up the tripod in his room to capture the dynamic duo at their best. After a couple hours of shooting videos, the boys came down and said they were finished. When I loaded the video I realized that the GoPro that I was using had this weird glitch with the external microphone that I was using, causing the entire video to be covered with a loud popping sound throughout the entire video. I was completely bummed, as were the boys. After a few tears, Hunter and Sawyer were back at it and recorded the entire video again. You can check out their review of the Nerf N-Strike Elite RapidStrike CS-18 below.
The boys are having a lot of fun creating these videos and it is enjoyable to watch their personalities develop. It is also fun working together on capturing and editing the video. I would have given anything to have such easy access to a video camera when I was growing up, not to mention the ability to do all the cool editing we are able to do today!
If you like the videos please leave a comment below to let the boys know! Also if you are on YouTube make sure to check out their channel to subscribe and see the rest of their videos at HayesPlays407. Thank you for your support!
