(AP) 3/4/05 – At the start of Saturday’s round, it was a tight leaderboard and there looked to be an exciting finish to the 2005 Harvest Classic Golf Outing. Kent Dickson decided to take charge of the final round pouring in two birdies and chipping in for an eagle to score 10 points and seal his first win since 1998. Don Hayes, while posting a great score, was unable to score enough points to keep pace with Dickson’s charge.
The other surge of the day belonged to Patrick Hayes posting a career best 79 and scoring 9 points to bring him from 9th place all the way to 3rd place. When asked for comment Patrick attributed his success to his coach and mentor Vern Shukoski, who during the 4th round took Patrick under his wing. All this was after Patrick convinced Vern to take his house off the market and close down the EBAY auction on his clubs and finish with a strong final round.
All in all the weekend was perfect and all players involved had a fun time. Thanks goes out to Vern Shukoski for organizing another incredible Harvest Classic! Thanks also to the Harvest Investment Group for providing the prizes, golf and accommodations! It was great seeing everyone and congratulations Kent for your impressive play this weekend.
