I can honestly say it has truly been a pleasure having Kee and Colonel be such a big part of our lives.  I have had the pleasure of knowing them for about the last 15 years and have come to know them both as remarkable human beings.  Kee is an amazing mother and best friend to Emily, as well as a loving and supportive grandmother to Hunter and Sawyer.  She is strong, funny, sarcastic when she needs to be, yet down to earth and always in tune with what’s going on around her.  Colonel is as down to earth and humble as they come.  He would give you the shirt off his back and another from his drawer (albeit with a giant bass on it) if you needed it.  He is gracious with his time and is never too busy to take the boys down to the lake to fish (even if Sawyer never throws in a line).

We have had the pleasure of living just around the corner from them for over the past 10 years, which has allowed us the opportunity to share many great milestone events together.  Well, tonight was a huge milestone for them as they reached their 50th year of married life together.

Bonefish Grill Anniversary Dinner

We celebrated the evening at Bonefish Grill, which is one of our favorite neighborhood spots for delicious seafood. The staff there did a nice job helping put out a few decorations that we (and when I say we with regards to decorating, my assumption is you know I had nothing to do with it) brought along to make the dinner a little more festive.

50th Wedding Anniversary Gift

Emily did an amazing job as always coming up with a themed basket, which received the Emily fist pump after it successfully made her mother cry.  We worked together to create a Playbill that was themed around their life together (I think that put Kee over the top).  I copied the Playbill below for you to read and enjoy.

Emily and I were quite proud of our collective creation, including the entire family as the supporting cast.

Publix Anniversary Cake

Emily also worked with the bakery at Publix to whip up a little cake that had flowers that somewhat matched their original wedding cake (which wasn’t black and white as it appears below for you kids reading along).  It was a fun, chill night which I believe is how Kee and Colonel wanted it, spending time with Fave Em (was I supposed to type that?  Sorry Drew and Glen) and the grandkids.

Here to is many more anniversaries ahead as well as all of the fun milestones in between.  I thought I would leave you with a couple of fun photos below… some things don’t change in 50 years!  Congratulations to you both again, for 50 years of marriage!
