Week two with Hunter Patrick Hayes was strikingly similar to week one. He has this amazing routine going now that consists of: screaming, eating, screaming, pooping, screaming, sleeping, screaming, and then screaming. Not sure how he developed this pattern so quickly, but he is automatic. Thank goodness for Grandma and Grandpa Griffin who are helping us out sooooo much. Many nights they call and say those magic words, “We are having chicken for dinner… would you like us to make you some?” I think it is funny that they still call and ask because we are so worn out by this little guy that we struggle to make a frozen pizza (Diane and Sara we have no idea how you do it)!
We have taken lots of walks around the lake and have also found time to take a nap or two. Yes, even Daddy is napping these days. It is truly awesome just hanging out as a family. Emily probably doesn’t want me sharing this, but I think some of the best times are the farting contests that the three of us have. Hunter has us beat by a mile.
This week was the first time that we attempted tummy time. He actually seemed to like it for about 10 minutes (which is huge in Hunter’s world)! He likes hanging out and listening to his Baby Einstein music. He even tries to keep up on his ESPN with his Daddy! What can we say, the kid is amazing.
He really enjoyed this week because it was the final four teams in the NCAA tournament. Hunter was able to get his first bracket in from the womb, so he felt an obligation to see how his teams finished in the tournament. After he got all his chores done for the day, and had his bottle, he decided he was going to spend the remainder of the night on the couch taking in the basketball game. The picture tells the story a little better than I can.
Hunter had his first outing this week as well. There was an art festival in Celebration that we decided to attend with Grandma and Grandpa. Hunter, never leaving the house without looking stylish, decided he was going to go with the his news boy ensemble. He just finished watching What Not To Wear on TLC with Mommy and thought his outfit was stunning. You can judge for yourself. The day was very enjoyable. We ate some fun food, including some delicious ice cream. Hunter was just there to soak it all in. He saw some art that he like but realized that the 25 cents in his piggy bank could not afford him much. One gentleman said that Hunter was the most beautiful artwork at the entire show. Hunter tipped his hat at the man in appreciation.
All in all it was a very enjoyable week. It is so much fun to watch him grow. I think his lungs and his voice are growing at a far more rapid pace than the rest of him, but that is neither here nor there. He is our beautiful boy, screams and all. He looks forward to meeting all of you very soon! Make sure to check out some of our favorite photos that we captured during Hunter’s second week int he world below!
