Week four was the last week that I got to spend with Mom and Hunter before I had to go back to work. I am glad that I took time off to be around to watch this little guy grow up. From the first week he was brought into the world up through this week he has changed so much.
During the first month I have realized a few things. First thing is that I think the main reason Mom wanted to have a baby was so she could play dress-up every day! He has a different outfit on every day and it must, and I repeat must, match. I think she is worried that Hunter will see some of his friends while we are out and they may talk trash if his socks don’t match his onesie.
Another thing I have learned is that there really is no reason sometimes. If you know me well you know that I always think there is reason behind everything that happens. I analyze things to death. Now imagine there is a kid who is 3 weeks old and is crying his eyes out. Well, he must be hungry. I feed him. Still crying. Well, he must have a full load in his diaper. Changed him. Still crying. He must want to be held. I hold him. Still crying. Did I mention there really is no reason sometimes?
This week Hunter got to meet Uncle Ian. Hunter decided that he wanted to visit Ian at work, so he told mom that they had to hit the road. Ian was very happy to meet Hunter, and they had a moment in the Disney Casting parking lot. Hunter learned a new expression that day – “Stoppit right now.” After hanging with Ian for a while it was time for Hunter to head home to hit the bottle and have a nap.
Hunter was supposed to have his first babysitting experience with Grandma and PopPa so that Mom and Dad could go to a wedding. Unfortunately Grandma and PopPa fell under the weather so we stayed home and hung out as a family.
Another great addition to our welcoming Hunter to the world was that all of my coworkers filled out a banner to welcome Hunter home. It was beautiful. While Hunter was taking a nap I decided to place it next to him in the crib to get this photo. Just like mom plays dress-up with the little guy, I use him as my photography prop!
All in all the first four weeks of Hunter’s life were fantastic. I can’t believe how fast they flew by. It has been really fun watching him develop his facial expressions and react to the things in his surroundings. It is amazing to see him grow everyday and to think about him growing into a little man.
I am headed back to work but have instructed Mom that we need to take at least one picture of the little guy each day. Hunter has been on the phone a couple of times with Britney Spears getting tips on how avoid the paparazzi. She mentioned something about shaving his head, but Hunter was overheard saying, “These beautiful locks? Not a chance!” It sounds like Hunter has resigned himself to the fact that he is going to see the flash bulb quite a few times in his life.
