Hunter continues to amaze us each and every day with what he is learning. Emily and I often look at each other questioning where he picks up some of the words and expressions that he repeats these days. One of his favorite things to do is what “who who’s” which is his way of telling us he wants to watch a video. I am sure you are asking “how in the world did he come up with that for video?” Well trying to keep a long story short, Grandma Griffin graciously watches Hunter when we go out or when Mom needs to regain her sanity. While he is with Grandma she often signs to him and many times it is in front of the computer as they pull up songs on the internet. One of their favorite songs to sing together is a JC Penney commercial where one of Hunter’s lines in the song is “Who who.” Low and behold he now points at the TV or the computer and says “who who” roughly 1200 times.
It seems that every day he has another word that he has picked up. He doesn’t always know what they mean but he always tries to sound out new words which amuses us to no end. Over the past few days he has found a new love of wearing baseball caps. We think it is because he sees Grandpa and Dada in hats all the time so he thinks that he needs to be part of this cult following. Many times he asks for his hat the minute after he wakes up.
The scary part of all of these advances as seeing him able to work his Mom and Dad. We are beginning to see the shift in power move to our knee high dictator. He is beginning to understand what Mom and Dad like and don’t like, and deciding when he want s us to feel each of these emotions. I think Emily would agree most of this comes out during eating time. For those of you with kids I would have to say this age is extremely unpredictable as to how much food they consume at mealtime. Some days he is a bottomless pit of digestion and other days he doesn’t want to get his fork dirty. Since I always look for some reasoning in the universe this quite confuses me.
