I don’t believe I can tell you exactly what inspired this project, but Hunter finally decided that he wanted to give video editing a try. Over the weekend we pulled out the GoPro, and had some fun taking videos around the pool. Mostly, the boys were interested in doing their “Epic” (debatable) jumps into the pool. Moving the camera around to several spots, we tried to capture different angles as to try to keep things exciting. We filmed a bit on Saturday afternoon and returned on Sunday to capture additional footage. Just entering into April, the pool was still just a tad too cold for my liking. The boys however, quickly adjusted and seemed to deal with the temperature without too much complaining. Below is the finished masterpiece from Hunter himself!
HayesPlays407 – Pool Fun Day Video
It was a blast watching to boys take their turn with the camera, trying to come up with the next creative/silly thing to do. They took turns filming each other, looking for cool underwater shots that we could slow down in post production. We played around with changing the frames per second on the GoPro Hero 5, which can shoot up to 120 FPS when shooting at 1080. They weren’t exactly sure what that meant until we got to the editing process and they could see themselves in super slow motion and they were in love!
I have to say, I am quite proud of his first work. While he wanted to include most of the footage that they both captured, I think he did a great job with his edits and his use (and hopefully not overuse) of the rewind feature. He picked out the music from Youtube himself and also found some sound effects to enhance the project. After he completed his work we had a screening with the entire family before it went live. You could tell he was proud of his work.
If you get a chance, take a look at the video and give it a “Thumbs Up” if you have a Youtube account. I am excited to see what else the two of these boys can cook up. The sure keep me entertained!
