Although Emily is not a huge fan of the beach (even though she grew up in Sarasota, FL…????), she agreed to appease Hunter and I and accompany us to the beach. I have been known to go to the beach on occasion without much preparation and just walk and enjoy the day. Well, those of you who know Emily know that we wouldn’t dare embark on a trip anywhere without a 30-point checklist to ensure that, in the event we got stranded in Cocoa, we would have provisions through the new year. Though I kid, she did put together some great snacks and drinks and made sure we had all of our towels and shovels, which made for a really fun day.
Hunter, who has been known to be iffy about the beach (not a huge fan of sand in the toes), could not have had a better day. He was not without his shovel for more than 2 minutes at a time as he made it his personal mission to rotate the sand throughout the coast. As he dug the sand he proclaimed over and over again that he was “making sand castles!” Not sure our castles would have won any awards (or even be recognized as castles), but we had a blast making them. I could not have enjoyed the morning more as it had all of my favorite elements: family, beach, pictures and beautiful weather. What a great day!
Quote of the day: As Emily laid out three tupperware containers of fruit on one of the sand covered towels, Hunter stopped what he was doing and walked over to survey the goings-on. In a very sincere and serious tone, he declared, “This is a niiiiiiice picnic.” (Emily)
