95 memorable years

Today we headed down to Sarasota to celebrate my grandmother’s 95th birthday! She requested a pizza party, and we were more than happy to oblige. My aunt from Georgia and cousin from NYC arrived on Friday night to drive down with us, so we split the cars girls/boys for the drive to Sarasota. My dad, Patrick, and Hunter rode together, and I understand they watched a few DVDs and saw a few BIG TRUCKS!!! In our car, we pointed out a few “MAGICAL FRESS BUS”es and then got down to the real reason we rode together – gossiping!

We hung out at Gram’s for a bit, then headed to one of our favorite Sarasota locations, Shaner’s. My mom and I have been going to Shaner’s since probably 1989. It is run by a former baseball player and has great thin crust pizza, among other things.

Our family took over the back room of the restaurant. It was great to see everyone, and I know Gram enjoyed her celebration. After salad and pizza, we went over to Aunty Mary Lou’s for cake and a video made by my cousin Scott of Gram’s 90th birthday party. The video was so cute (and I was so NOT) and it was fun to see the kids, especially… five years make a big difference in the under-10 crowd! All the cousins had a blast playing in AML’stoy room and we barely saw Hunter all night. Thanks, Ryan and Trent, for playing cars with him!

We left to drive home around 9:30 with Hunter in his jammies and Buzz on the DVD player. He made a valiant effort to stay awake but by the time we hit I4, he was sound asleep. Thankfully he went right back to bed when we got home, because the Easter bunny had yet to make his appearance!

Happy birthday, Great Gram! To many more memories!
