Starting Location: Orlando, FL
Destination: Savannah, GA
Dining Locations: Cracker Barrel, St. Augustine
Travel Time: 5 hours
We departed sunny Orlando, Florida, at about 4:15 pm and hit the open road. Emily and Hunter had the car packed and ready to go when I got home from work so all I had to do was push on the gas! Emily had done a pretty amazing job packing the car and setting up Hunter’s toy arsenal to accommodate his 14 second attention span.
We made it about two hours to St. Augustine before we heard the almighty “Nah Nah” cry from the back seat. For those of you who have not purchased your English-to-Hunter dictionary, a Nah Nah is food. Well, more specifically, it is anything that can be consumed via the mouth. This meant of course that it was time to pull over to satisfy the beast.
We pulled into the Cracker Barrel and made our way in to mingle with the country folk. Dinner was fantastic as always and the Chicken Fried Chicken could not have been cooked better. After Hunter had consumed his three bites of grilled cheese sandwich and 3 half french fries it was destination: Savannah.
The drive was smooth, wide open and beautiful. The sun was setting out of the driver side of the car and it was great to be back on the road. Hunter handled day 1 like a champ. As with our last day 1, there isn’t too much to report. We will have photos and more stories tomorrow so don’t forget to stop back. For those of you following the trivia contest, the first five questions are posted and several heated emails have been bandied around regarding who is going to kick whose… well, you know. It’s getting ugly.
